Emerald City Monty, aka Monty Hathaway is a drum n bass DJ located in Seattle, Washington in the USA. Also known (maybe better known) as ECM, Monty began his journey with DNB/Jungle in 2000. A hardcore hip hop head, Monty stumbled upon dnb after meeting his future wife, who attended many a rave in the late 90’s. After she handed him the “Killa bytes” mix cd by Dom & Roland, he was intrigued. After hearing “INCredible sound of drum n bass” mixed by Goldie, he was hooked. Thus began an obsession with all things DNB. After beginning to mix illbient/abstract hiphop in hopes of becoming an ambassador for the sound championed by DJ Spooky, DJ Krush, and DJ Shadow, he switched over to the sounds of labels like Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware, Moving Shadow, and Hospital. ECM has rocked many parties in Seattle including venues such as Onset, the longest running Saturday night weekly in the USA, and The Baltic Room, the longest running weekly in the USA. He is a member of the Compound crew, alongside veterans Slantooth, and Discord. Currently he is working on a children’s alphabet book, painting on canvasses, and looking to bring the heavy, soulful, classic drum n bass sound of the Compound crew to a sound system near you!!!!
